Synopsis

Based on webcomic “Bride of the Water God“ by Yoon Mi Kyung which was published from year 2006 to 2014 via cartoon.media.naver.net.

But she declined the offer and chose to act in Criminal Minds drama along with Lee Jun Ki which I think she made a right choice. Though I don’t like SSK’s acting, but I can’t imagine MCW to be pair with NJH, the age gap would be so obvious as MCW has a mature feature.

    I love Korean Dramas… It started with Jewel in the Palace and my Husband and I have been hooked ever since… I have one question;; Isn’t there a decent knowledgeable make up artist in Korea??? Someone perhaps with an eye for color?? The Women’s lips seems to be painted with baking soda mixed with an Orange dye…And the Men have purple or hot pink lips… The coloring are only on the inside of the lips for the Women… It’s very distracting to the beauty of each character… Korea is loaded with pretty Women and Handsome Men, it’s a pity to ruin it by making them all look gay for Men and lipless Women… Do the Director or Producers see the difference between the make up here in America or even in China!!! I hope someone could do something little research in Cosmetics and how it look on camera…

    i agree with Ellen Bay regarding onscreen make up. it’s not the make up per se which leaves something to be desired, it’s the make up artists who do not know what/how to put make up with regards to the scenes being shot. i’ve watched so many s.k. dramas, at first, i was bothered by it, then i just forego it because maybe they don’t have a high budget for make up artists, or the camera men, or the props, etc. etc. the last comment i made on make up was in the series ‘k2’ wherein the female lead’s face was fully made up when she just escaped from an abbey (convent) in spain! and she was to be a ‘prisoner’ there! bottomline is, if i can’t stand the series, i just drop it!

    I’m sorry to say this, but SSK is really bad in acting. I can’t feel her emotions at all. When she’s sad or when she’s happy, it seems forced and not natural at all. And she’s a child actress, and her actings seem to be stagnant and not improve at all. I always try to give her a chance by still watching her drama because she always pairs with my favorite actors, but every single time I watch her dramas, I’d be so frustrated with her acting. It’s already episode 6, and I still can’t say that her acting has improved, and I feel like dropping this drama because of her. I can’t seem to relate to her character. I should feel sorry for So Ah for having all those hardships dealing with Gods’ issue, but because SSK couldn’t deliver, I don’t really feel sad about So Ah at all.

    This drama clearly is totally different from the original manhwa story, just borrow the names of a few characters and the title, if you watch this drama because of the manhwa, probably you should stop before even start. Otherwise, I think this is an interesting drama. Every SSK drama she got criticized about her acting but in my opinion, she is not great but certainly good enough for the average Korean audience and the producers and directors. Watching drama is like eating, if you don’t like certainly ingredients (actor), nobody can change your mind (and no reason to). For those who don’t like SSK, probably you should stop watching any drama with her in it, she won’t be able to change your mind. I would say at least her acting is better than Krystal (even though I like Krystal’s face better).

    The lipstick technique on the women is a called gradient/ombre/bitten lips. It has been a trend on Korean celebrities for over 4 years! A neutral or lighter matte lip color is applied around the edge but not the center the lips. A color is applied at the center. A brush is used to blend color from center to outer edge to get the color gradient. This is supposed to be the younger innocent look. It is also used to thin out full lips which many Korean women and men have. I can’t explain why the loud lip colors are used on men. The drama with the best makeup is Princess Agents the Chinese drama. The makeup that blurs light. It is hard to see bumps, large pores or pock marks. The eye makeup on prince Yan Sun at about ep 49 is flawless!

    You know the feeling when it keeps you hanging at the end of the episode and you want another more, more, more…!!! I wonder why it has a low rating.

    I know it is quite different from the webcomic but somehow, I also like the twist they made on the story.

    After finish the whole series, I feel disappointed. The problem of this drama is the story, almost nothing significant happened in 16 episodes. For a fantasy drama, the gods almost never used their power and I still have no idea why they go to human world, I don’t think they “rule” human world.     Both male and female lead actors need to work on how they can express more through their eyes and face. SSK expression is so flat through out the episodes, like it’s difficult for her to really open her mouth to express the emotion of Yoon So Ah character. NJH eyes is so flatttt…. arghh! When I watched this drama, the only question came to my mind was…. How come the supporting actors and actresses act sooo perfect compare the leading actors? I love the story though.

    Wonderful drama! I was totally enthralled by BRIDE OF THE WATER GOD! Shin Se Kyung and Nam Joo Hyuk are excellent and accomplished actors who made a great team. Would like to see more dramas like this one. Thanks to everyone involved in creating this terrific drama!

    The excelence of this drama is the mistery. It will keep you wondering how the problem will be solved even until the last episode! I should say there is a lack of chemistry between the main leads and to be honest the romance is not really touching too, but Nam Joo Hyuk’s acting is great.

    NJH’s acting has definitely improved in this drama. His role made him more matured as compared to his previous dramas. This is such a sweet drama and I highly recommend this! 💛

    Actually I like NJH’s acting as Ha Baek. He did well. One thing I can’t accept is the female lead, SSK. Although her acting did improve, still I can’t feel the ‘love’ chemistry between Ha Baek and So Ah. Their chemistry is not strong. If the female lead is someone else, maybe the whole drama “feel” would be different and who knows, might score a high rating. Overall, it is enjoyable to watch if you don’t have any other nice drama to catch.

    I was just watching this drama and wanted to come and say that I really enjoyed this drama. It was nice with great sense of humor and good chemistry between the main leads. Also, the secondary leads were really good and suited their roles really well.
    I don’t understand the hate comments regarding the main actress. She did an awesome job in this drama and her acting is spot on. I just went back to watch some clips on YouTube to try to understand the negative comments and found no bases for them. Her face expressions and eyes is really amazing. That has nothing to do with her beauty. It’s about her reactions and expressions. I just watched the clip when she was on phone and habeck came to tell her She is talking to a man. It was really an amazing funny seen and her reaction was perfect. Same for the one I just watched for her when she asked him to stretch after cleaning the house. I don’t understand the hate unless it personally motivated by people who liked the guy with his GF in the previous drama or just did not watch the drama and wanted to be judgmentals.
    I’m also happy the actress who was offered the role first refused. She is almost 15 years older than the main guy and she would not suite the sense of humor made in this drama. This main actress is really awesome for this role.
    Also, if you guys don’t like an actor or actress at least respect that they put so much effort in their dramas and don’t bash them just because of your personal preference. Either watch the drama allowing yourself to see how the actor is involving or just don’t watch.
    Lastly, while I also would have liked to see more like gods actions in this drama, i just read in some places that this was a very low budget drama unfortunately. Hence, they could not do a lot of actions that would have made this drama better. But I really love the sense of humor and thought the actors were chosen well for thier character especially the main female lead.
